  • Every transaction categorized, every account reconciled
  • Books closed and reported by the 10th
  • The same bookkeeper every single month
Sound familiar?

Bookkeeping is the job that quietly gets away from you

It is never urgent until it is. A month slips, then a quarter, and suddenly you are making hiring and pricing decisions on a gut feeling because the numbers in the software stopped being trustworthy somewhere back in spring.

  • You could not say what last month actually made without opening the bank app
  • Transactions sit uncategorized in the review queue for weeks
  • Personal and business spending have blurred together on one card
  • Your accountant asks questions you have to go digging to answer
In detail

What bookkeeping actually covers

The specifics, rather than a bullet list you have to interpret.

Transaction categorization that reflects your business

Generic categories tell you nothing. We build a chart of accounts around how your business actually earns and spends — by service line, job, location or channel, whichever gives you a number worth looking at — then categorize consistently against it so month-on-month comparisons mean something.

Reconciliation of every connected account

Bank accounts, credit cards, PayPal, Stripe, Square. Each one is matched line by line to the statement every month, which is how duplicates, missed deposits and bank errors get caught while they are still fixable rather than at year end.

Accounts payable and receivable kept current

We track what you owe and what you are owed, flag invoices drifting past terms, and keep the aging reports accurate so a cash flow problem shows up as a number before it shows up in your account balance.

A monthly close, not a monthly export

Closing means reviewing the numbers before they go out: checking balances against source documents, clearing suspense and undeposited funds, and confirming the statements actually tie. Software can generate a report. Closing is the part that makes it correct.

Statements you can act on

Your pack includes a profit and loss, a balance sheet and a short written note on what moved and why — the three costs that jumped, the customer who paid late, the margin that slipped. That note is usually the part owners read first.

Year-end handled before year end

Because the books are correct every month, tax time is a hand-off rather than a project. Your CPA gets a clean file, reconciled accounts and the supporting documentation already organized.

Our comprehensive bookkeeping services ensure your financial records are always accurate, organized, and compliant. We handle day-to-day financial transactions, categorize expenses, manage accounts payable and receivable, and provide you with clear, actionable financial insights.

With Feather Accounting, you'll have peace of mind knowing your books are in expert hands, allowing you to focus on growing your business.

How it runs

What happens after you get in touch

Only the first step needs anything from you.

1

Tell us where things stand

A 20-minute call covering your transaction volume, how many accounts are in play and how far behind things are. You get a flat monthly rate on that call.

2

We take over the file

Read-only feeds get connected, the chart of accounts gets built or cleaned up, and we agree what belongs in your monthly pack. Roughly a week end to end.

3

It just runs

Transactions are categorized as they arrive, accounts reconcile monthly, and your reports land by the 10th. When something needs a decision, your bookkeeper calls you.

This is a good fit if

  • You have between 20 and 1,000 transactions a month
  • You want one consistent person rather than a rotating team
  • You want a flat rate instead of an hourly meter
  • You would like to stop thinking about this entirely

We are probably not right if

  • Your books are months behind — start with Catch-Up Bookkeeping instead
  • You need audit or attest work, which requires a CPA firm
  • You want someone physically in your office each week

If that is you, say so on the call. We would rather point you somewhere better than take on work we are not the right firm for.

Weighing it up

Feather, doing it yourself, or hiring in-house

The honest trade-offs. Plenty of businesses are better off with one of the other two.

Always the same person

You get a dedicated bookkeeper, not a call center

Whichever service you pick, the same bookkeeper handles your account every month — someone who understands how your business actually runs and can spot the things a rotating team never would.

  • The same person every month — no rotating queue, no re-explaining your business
  • Direct email and phone access, not a shared ticket inbox
  • They learn your vendors, your seasonality and what "normal" looks like for you
