Monthly bookkeeping

Flat-Rate Bookkeeping in Omaha, NE

Most owners spend under half an hour a month on this once it is running — a forwarded receipt, an answer about an odd transaction, and nothing else.

  • Plain-English summary of what changed
  • Records your CPA can use without a cleanup first
  • Invoices drifting past terms flagged early

Owner-operated transport businesses are a recurring part of the local work, alongside insurance, agriculture suppliers and trades. For anyone running financed vehicles or equipment, the most common error we correct is treating a finance payment as though the whole of it were an expense.

What's included

What our service covers in Omaha

Everything below is part of the engagement — no surprise add-ons.

Onboarding handover

Roughly a week to connect feeds, build or clean the chart of accounts and agree what belongs in your monthly pack.

Cash flow snapshot

A short view of what came in, what went out and what is committed, so a tight month is visible before it becomes a problem.

Bank feed management

Feeds connected read-only and the rules reviewed as they age, because a rule written a year ago quietly miscodes for months once a supplier changes.

Payroll journal entries

Wages, taxes and employer costs posted from your payroll provider each run, so the profit figure carries the true cost of employment.

Budget vs actual

If you work to a budget we report against it, so the variance conversation happens monthly rather than once a year.

How it runs

What happens after you get in touch

Only the first step needs anything from you.

1

Tell us where things stand

A 20-minute call covering your transaction volume, how many accounts are in play and how far behind (if at all) things are. You get a flat monthly rate on that call.

2

We take over the file

Read-only feeds get connected, the chart of accounts is built or cleaned up, and we agree what belongs in your monthly pack. Roughly a week end to end.

3

It just runs

Transactions are categorized as they arrive, accounts reconcile monthly, and your reports land by the 10th. When something needs a decision, your bookkeeper calls you.

Why us

Why Omaha businesses choose Feather Accounting

Month-to-month — no long-term contract

Good fit

This is a good fit if…

  • Transactions have grown past what a spreadsheet can hold
  • You have never had a real monthly close, only report exports
  • You are spending evenings on the books instead of the business
  • Year end turns into a reconstruction project every time

Finance payments are not expenses

A monthly payment on a truck is three things at once: interest, which is an expense; principal, which reduces a liability; and behind it, depreciation of the asset, which is a separate expense entirely. Booking the whole payment as a cost overstates expenses and hides both the asset and the debt.

We split them properly, so the balance sheet shows what the business owns and owes, and the profit figure reflects what the equipment actually cost to use this month.

It is the single most common correction we make for owner-operators, and it usually changes the reported profit noticeably.

FAQ

Questions about this service

Anything we have not covered, ask on the call — it is free and there is no follow-up sequence.

Probably. The mechanics are the same across most small businesses; what changes is the chart of accounts, which we build around how you actually earn and spend.
