Cleanup & catch-up

Catch-Up Bookkeeping for Dallas Businesses

If the books stopped somewhere in the past and never restarted, we pick up from there — every transaction reviewed individually rather than bulk-coded by rule.

  • Every account reconciled, period by period
  • Books a lender or CPA will accept
  • One point of contact for the whole project

Property and development businesses produce backlogs that are less about missing data than about tangled data. Several entities, costs paid from whichever account had funds, and transfers between them that were never labelled as transfers. Everything is recorded somewhere; almost nothing is in the right place.

What's included

What our service covers in Dallas

Everything below is part of the engagement — no surprise add-ons.

Opening balance verification

A catch-up is only as good as the balance it starts from. We verify the opening position rather than assuming the last closed period was correct.

Transaction-by-transaction review

Not sampled, not bulk-categorized by rule. Each transaction in the backlog is reviewed and coded correctly.

Restated financial statements

You get a corrected profit and loss, balance sheet and cash flow for every period, so you finally see what those years looked like.

Statement retrieval guidance

Banks hold history further back than most owners expect. We tell you exactly what to request and from whom so the reconstruction can go as far back as it needs to.

Period-by-period reconciliation

Every bank account, credit card and processor is reconciled for each period, which is where the real errors surface.

How it runs

What happens after you get in touch

Only the first step needs anything from you.

1

Free assessment call

We look at the file together and establish the real scope — months behind, accounts involved, condition of the records. No judgment.

2

One fixed quote

A single flat fee for the whole project before any work starts. It does not move unless you ask us to expand the scope.

3

We rebuild, then hand over

The backlog is reconstructed period by period, reconciled and documented. At the end you get corrected statements, the change log and a file your CPA can work from.

Why us

Why Dallas businesses choose Feather Accounting

Read-only access throughout — we never move money
Work sequenced in period order so progress is visible
Honest advice when the records genuinely cannot be recovered
Restated statements you can take to a lender or CPA
Reconstruction from statements when receipts are long gone
Good fit

This is a good fit if…

  • The software was set up but never really used
  • You are facing a filing deadline, a loan application or due diligence
  • You genuinely do not know how far behind you are
  • You have filed on estimates you are not confident in

Untangling entities

The reconstruction starts by identifying which movements were genuine expenses and which were money moving between entities the owner controls. Recorded as expenses, transfers make one entity look unprofitable and another look better than it is.

We reclassify those as inter-company balances across the whole backlog, so each entity ends with a real position and the balances between them agree.

Where costs were shared across projects, we allocate on a basis agreed with you rather than an assumed one, and apply it consistently through the reconstructed period.
