Sage bookkeeping

Sage Bookkeeping for San Jose Businesses

Bookkeeping for San Jose companies on Sage, handled by the same bookkeeper every month at a flat rate agreed before we start.

  • Aged payables and receivables kept current
  • Records kept in the state your accountant needs
  • Ledgers reconciled and closed every month

Engineering consultancies and contract manufacturers on Sage share a commercial fact that shapes everything in the file: a small number of large customers. Transaction volume is low, and the risk sits almost entirely in what each of those relationships is genuinely worth once the cost of serving it is counted.

What's included

What our service covers in San Jose

Everything below is part of the engagement — no surprise add-ons.

Monthly close

Balances checked against source documents, control accounts cleared and statements confirmed to tie before anything reaches you.

Transaction coding

Every line categorized against a chart of accounts built around how your San Jose business actually earns and spends, coded the same way each month so comparisons hold.

Supplier and customer ledgers

Aged payables and receivables kept current, so what you are owed and what you owe are numbers you can act on rather than estimates.

Cleanup and catch-up

If the Sage file has drifted or you are months behind, we quote that separately as one-time work so it never holds up the monthly service.

Bank and card reconciliation

Each account matched to the statement monthly, with differences investigated and explained rather than quietly absorbed into a suspense account.

How it runs

What happens after you get in touch

Only the first step needs anything from you.

1

Tell us what you are running

A short call covering which Sage product you use, your San Jose transaction volume and how many accounts are involved. You get a flat monthly rate on that call.

2

We pick up the file

Access is set up, the chart of accounts is reviewed and tidied where it needs it, and we agree what belongs in your monthly pack. Usually about a week.

3

It runs monthly

Transactions are coded as they arrive, ledgers reconcile each month, and your reports land on schedule. When something needs a decision, your bookkeeper calls.

Why us

Why San Jose businesses choose Feather Accounting

Flat monthly rate rather than an hourly meter
You keep Sage — we do not require a move to QuickBooks
Reconciliation differences investigated, not absorbed
Month to month, with no long-term contract
Aged debt flagged before it becomes a cash problem
Good fit

This is a good fit if…

  • Your California business already runs on Sage and intends to stay there
  • You want the same bookkeeper every month, not a rotating team
  • You want records your accountant can use without a cleanup first
  • Your ledgers have drifted from what the bank actually says

When a few accounts are most of the revenue

With concentrated customers, the most useful report is not monthly profit. It is margin per account alongside how long each one actually takes to pay, as against what its terms say.

Sage produces both once the ledgers are maintained. What we usually find is a receivables list carrying invoices settled outside the system, credits never applied and disputes closed by agreement but never recorded, which makes it actively misleading about the one thing that matters.

For contract manufacturers there is a second layer: material committed to an open order is not stock on hand, and the balance sheet should say so.
